A Pilot Study of applying for Nonpharmacological Approaches in self-health management of women’s menopausal
Abstract
Purpose Women’s menopause is an important watershed for women to enter the old age. If there is no good adjustment of various uncomfortable symptoms caused by female menopause, it will affect the physical and mental condition of women entering the old age. Due to the possible side effects of traditional estrogen on the body, many menopausal women use non-pharmacological adjuncts to improve the discomfort of menopause. In this study, three women with menopausal symptoms were intervened by non-pharmacological approaches, and a transtheoretical model was used to assist the cases in self-health management, in order to achieve the improvement of menopausal symptoms. Method Apply the transtheoretical model of change process and strategies to help women with menopausal syndrome to establish and maintain self-health management beliefs at different stages of the change process.
Furthermore, use a combination of non-pharmacological approaches suitable for the case, such as exercise, diet, meditation, music, aromatherapy and lifestyle adjustment, to assist cases suffering from menopausal symptoms. In addition to the self-perception assessment by the case and researcher, four assessments were used before and after the study, that is, the Green's Menopause Symptom Scale, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Scale, Baker Depression Scale, and Health Management Self-efficacy Scale, to show the improvement of women's menopausal symptoms. Results and Discussion Menopause discomfort symptoms vary from individual to individual, and are affected by individuals’ cognition of menopause and their belief in health management. Therefore, it is necessary to apply multiple non-pharmacological approaches to help cases improve the comprehensive discomfort caused by the spiral physical and mental interaction.
non-pharmacological approaches, coupled with the application of strategies transtheoretical models, can help cases provide continuous support when cases are uneasy and lack confidence, and help women adapt to changes at any time and carry out self-health management in the absence of professional medical treatment. Continued implementation of non-pharmacological approaches with positive benefits.
